About Studio Kvinna
Nice to meet you! My name is Femke and drawing is what I love to do most. In my work I always try to incorporate something that makes you smile, through humor and a lot of attention to detail. Think of cozy camper vans, curled up red cats, colorful flowers and places to dream away.
And you will find these illustrations on cards, prints and posters, mugs, calendars and stickers.
I was told that Femke comes from Frisian, and means something like 'little woman'. After a holiday in Sweden I became a big fan of the country and the language. Kvinna is Swedish for 'woman' and that's how my company got its name.
About Femke
As a child I drew a lot and shouted that I wanted to be an 'artist'. After a year at art school I went to study communication, got my diploma and went to work.
Still, it was nice to create; I taught myself to crochet and took more pictures than you could ever need. Eventually, I rediscovered how nice drawing is. So nice to be able to make my job out of it now.
Some more facts about me
I am married and mother of Annika ('19) and Jonas ('21). I like to eat pizza and sushi and drink coffee and ginger ale. You make me happy with Scandinavia, the sea, cats and (arthouse) films. You don't make me happy with crowds, turnips and spiders. I like to be inspired by folklore, traditions, nature, camping, cooking and food.
My workplace is at home, on the edge of Hengelo. I like to go for a walk and love to see the seasons come and go. Once behind my desk, I am lovingly kept from my work by our two cats Charlie and Saartje.
