Studio Kvinna: illustrations with a story

Welcome! Here you will find cards, prints and posters, but also mugs, calendars and stickers. All with illustrations by me, Femke Hesselink.

I was told that Femke comes from Frisian, and means something like 'little woman'. After a holiday in Sweden I became a big fan of the country and the language. Kvinna is Swedish for 'woman' and that's how my company got its name.

Hand-painted

Sometimes I put my iPad aside and get to work with paint and brushes. It's a wonderful change of pace; strangely enough, it's a completely different way of working and thinking about how an image is created. And I don't just stick to paper. I love to make it a beautiful whole with a hand-painted wooden frame that can be hung directly on the wall.
